In 2005, National Fuel activated the National Fuel Gas Company Foundation, a 501(c)(3) private foundation funded entirely by shareholders, to better establish our commitment to the community.
The foundation strives to fund innovative programs, initiatives and, on rare occasions, special events that fall within the pillars of National Fuel’s community giving strategy and promise to advance strong, vibrant and stable communities. In 2022 the Foundation’s funding priorities were revitalized to better align with the Company’s Guiding Principles. These pillars, or focus areas, include:
Improve community safety, foster inclusion, promote diversity and enrich the overall quality of life in our communities.
Develop a sustainable energy workforce through projects that advance STEAM education and prepare students to compete in the workforce.
Support the preservation of natural resources, environmental education, watershed protection, emissions reduction and environmental enhancements.
Fund support services that directly benefit veterans, active service members and their families.
In 2005, the Employee Charitable Giving Program was formed to better align our charitable support with the wishes of our employees. This program is similar to a matching gift program. Employees may choose to designate funds toward 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, and the foundation will match those funds up to an annual dollar limit.
Since the incorporation of the Employee Charitable Giving Program, National Fuel, our employees and the Foundation have given more than $24 million to more than 800 charitable organizations throughout the U.S. For more information, view our most recent Form 990-PF.
